Albert Hammond Jr. | Momentary Masters, Hot Ties, Lollapalooza, What’s going on with “The Strokes”?

Coming off two solo albums as well as the 2013’s AHJ EP – Guitarist, artist, style aficionado and all around renaissance man, Albert Hammond Jr. is set to release his new album Momentary Masters due to drop on July 31st in the US ala Vagrant records.

Albert mentions, the band that grew out of the last AHJ EP turned into something better he could have imagined — even in his own circle of friends and family Momentary Masters stands as some of his best work.

We catch up over the phone discussing the challenges of making the new record, his marriage, new band, his foray into the style scene and how his lifestyle has taken a positive/enlightened change for the better.  In a life surrounded by an intoxicating mix of non-stop touring & excess as prominent member of the rebel princes of rock ‘n roll royalty, The Strokes— Albert’s lifestyle took a less than savory shift.  Now, Albert explains that.. [“I’m making it easier for me to do things I want to do as opposed to making it harder or pretending it’s a valiant effort that I’ve gotten through my own… what’s it called… My own war.”]

We also hit upon the stellar covers he rocks during his shows– From the songs he’s previously covered “Postal Blowfish” by Guided By Voices to “One Last Caress” Mistfits — We’ll have to see what Albert chooses to roll out on the latest tour… Did someone say The Police?  Oh snap! We’ll just have to wait and see!
